Surviving the Toddler Tantrum Tornado: A Workshop for Parents Who Deserve a Medal

Ever tried reasoning with a toddler mid-tantrum? It’s like negotiating with a tiny, irrational dictator whose main demand is: More biscuits. Right now. Or else.
One moment, they’re a giggling cherub. The next? Flat on the floor, limbs flailing, channeling the spirit of a professional football player who just got mildly bumped. But don’t worry — we’ve got your back.
Introducing the Understanding Emotions Workshop for Parents of Toddlers, where we tackle tantrums head-on (not literally… please don’t headbutt a tantrumming toddler). Think of it as a crash course in toddler emotions without the crash — or at least with fewer crashing toy cars.

Why This Workshop is a Must (Besides the Free Hot Drink)
Let’s face it: Toddlers have big feelings in tiny bodies. And sometimes, those feelings come out louder than a fire alarm in a burnt toast incident. This workshop will help you:
• Understand why toddlers throw tantrums (Hint: It’s not because they’re plotting your downfall… probably).
• Learn how to respond like a calm, wise parenting guru (or at least fake it until bedtime).
• Get practical strategies to help your child navigate their emotional rollercoaster without sending you into one.
• Connect with other parents who have also endured the spaghetti-on-the-floor phase.

The Science of Tantrums
Here's the deal: Tantrums are the sign of bad parenting or bad behaviour. Tantrums are a natural part of growing up.
Emotional Regulation: Toddlers are still developing the brain areas responsible for emotional regulation. The prefrontal cortex, which helps with impulse control, isn’t fully formed until their mid-twenties! So, expecting a two-year-old to stay calm when denied a cookie is like expecting a goldfish to solve a Rubik’s cube.
Limited Vocabulary: Imagine feeling deeply upset but not having the words to explain why. Frustrating, right? That’s a toddler’s everyday experience.
• Big Emotions: Little bodies, big emotions. Fear, frustration, and excitement can be overwhelming. Tantrums are often their way of saying, “I can’t handle this!”

What You’ll Learn
We’re keeping things interactive because nobody wants to listen to a lecture while mentally planning their grocery list. Here’s a sneak peek:
• Tantrum Talk: You’ll brainstorm why tantrums happen, with a little game of “What Emotion is This?” Bonus points for your best imitation of a frustrated toddler who just lost a sock.
• Choice Power: Learn how giving two options instead of one can make your child feel like a boss, while you secretly maintain control. Example: “Would you like to wear the red socks or the blue socks?” Boom. You win.
• Bubble Breaks: Discover how blowing bubbles isn’t just for Instagram aesthetics — it’s also a sneaky breathing exercise for calming down. Plus, it’s really hard to cry while popping bubbles. Trust us.

Real Talk
We’re not promising tantrum-free living. (If we could, we’d be millionaires and possibly ruling the world.) But we will give you tools, tips, and the emotional resilience of a bedtime-story marathoner.
And hey, even if your child still throws themselves to the ground because their banana broke in half, at least you’ll know why it happened. Spoiler: It’s not about the banana.
